Penn State Football, as well as Penn State Athletics, have reported 50 new COVID-19 positives among 859 tests for the span of September 5-11, according to a regularly scheduled department press release on Wednesday.

This news comes after many programs were halted; however, football, men’s hockey, and men’s basketball were still practicing last week.

Many of the positive cases were represented by student-athletes already among those on paused teams, in turn, the results did not require further suspension of team activities.

This news comes along with the Big Ten’s announcement that they will resume their football season in late October. The league has a strict policy for COVID-19 testing for all athletes. Official decisions about non-football fall sports will come in the next days.
