20 Years and Not Forgotten

The tragic events of 9/11 happened in New York City over approximately 20 years ago. The attacks that happened at 8:45 A.M on Tuesday September 11th 2001 were very tragic, and will Never be forgotten. Before I talk about the anniversary, let me tell you what actually happened on that day. It was a beautiful morning in New York, but then the leader of “al-Qaeda,” a terrorist organization led by a man named Osama Bin Laden sent multiple terrorists to hijack 4 planes to attack different places in the United States of America, including the twin towers and The Pentagon. During the attacks about 2,996 people were sadly killed on that day. Instead of rebuilding the World Trade Center, they instead turned it into a memorial. There is also a 9/11 memorial in Jerusalem.

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, many families of firefighters and police officers that were killed on 9/11 went to the memorial in New York City to honor them. There are about 700 9/11 memorials in the U.S. This was a very sad day for the U.S.A and all around the world, and it won’t be forgotten. The current president of the time, George W Bush, said this line during a speech about 9/11, “We will remember every rescuer that died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember.” Another quote  from the former president of the United States said, “Great tragedy has come to us, and we are meeting it with the best in our country, with courage and concern for others because this is America. This is who we are.” The man responsible for the attacks, Osama Bin Laden,  died on May 2nd, 2011.

The 9/11 attacks were a very sad day for us all. It will not be forgotten, nor forgiven. The memorials that are found all around the United States of America are a representation of the horrible acts of September 11th attacks will not be forgotten.
