2022 Penns Valley Boys Soccer
September 22, 2022
In August the Penns Valley Boys Soccer season started. The current record for the boy’s soccer team is 4-1. During pre-season, the seniors came up with three goals for the season. “Our goals for this season are to never lose at home, never lose to the same team twice, and make it to districts,” says George Dawson.
The boys started the season out with a local Bald Eagle tournament including the teams, Bellefonte, Bald Eagle, and Saint Josephs Academy. They came out on top with a 2-0 record playing Bellefonte first and then Bald Eagle in the championship game. The next game the boys played was against Huntington. They won 4-0 against them with one of their players, Cayden Merrill having a hat trick. Cayden Merril has had a great start to his season as he is the top leading goal scorer as of right now.
The next game the boys played was against Tyrone with them taking the win with the score being 3-1. “It wasn’t the prettiest game, but we came out with the W, and we will work on the mistakes that were made so we are prepared for the next game,” says Kyle Long one of the team’s captains. In the next game the boys did not come out on top and they lost 4-2. It was a tough loss for the team and hard on the team because the game was ended by an unfortunate storm coming through.
The 3 captains this year are Kyle Long, Hayden Houser, and Gavin Robb. Kyle plays center mid while Hayden plays striker, and Gavin Robb is their goalie. The next game they play is against Bald Eagle, good luck to the Penns Valley Boys Soccer team!
