On September 13, 2023, the Lady Rams traveled up to Clearfield to take on the(at the time) 3-3-1 Lady Bison.
During the first half of the game, the Rams held their own. The entire half they stood tall and the score stayed a steady 0-0. After half-time, it all broke loose.
When Penns Valleys Savvanah Stover tripped in the box, the refs turned it into a Clearfield penalty kick; making the score 1-0. Penns Valley Audrey Kerstetter states “We kind of gave up after the refs gave them that PK.” During the second half, the calls continued to get worse.
Then a corner kick came along, and with the Bison assists, it raised the score to 2-0 Lady Bison. The lady bison picked up the pace along with favored calls. Eventually winning the game 4-0.
This doesn’t leave out the fact that our Lady Rams were picked apart the entire game. Penns Valleys Elle Dinges states, “The refs didn’t make awesome calls, which doesn’t help, people were getting trucked up and down the field with no calls, but if we did that there were calls coming from all sides of the field.” Defending his team, Coach Herrmann picks up a yellow card from a horrible call. The Lady Rams took this defeat and are now using it as fuel for future games.
The Lady Rams are now 3-5 after a loss to Bellefonte on September 18. The Lady Ram’s upcoming games consist of Bellefonte(Sept. 25)at home, Penn Cambria(Sept. 26) at Penn Cambria, and Chesnut Ridge(Sept. 28) at home.
Wishing our Lady Rams the best of luck in upcoming games.
