On Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 Ella Hadley broke the career kills record for volleyball at Penns Valley Area High School during the Lady Rams match against the opposing Clearfield Bison. She exceeded the record with 702 kills. Prior to the game, Hadley had 689 total career kills which left her needing 13 to break the record held by Penns Valley alumni Emma Butler. She reached kill number 13 in the third set after the Lady Rams had taken two sets from the Bison.
Ella Hadley is a hardworking player who never shuts down or gives up. She is positive, focused, determined, communicative, and a great leader on and off the volleyball court. Hadley exclaims, “I am so thankful for this opportunity and I couldn’t have done it without the overwhelming support I receive from my team, my coaches, and my family.” She has been playing volleyball since she was 13 years old, starting on the Lady Rams Junior High team in seventh grade. Following this, she played for her first club volleyball team Relentless in the winter season. She proceeded to play Junior High for the Lady Rams the following year and then Varsity all the years after until now allowing her to be in her senior season this year. Each winter off-season she has played club volleyball for multiple club teams including Relentless, Central Penn, Happy Volley, and Horseshoe.
Rather than only breaking the total career kills record, she has also set the record for the most kills in a single match. She reached this milestone during the Lady Rams match against opposing Bellwood-Antis in September when she got 28 kills. She had previously broken the record last year against Huntingdon with 21 kills, broke her own record of 21 against Central Mountain with 23 kills, and now exceeded her own record again this year by getting 28.
The Lady Rams have four more in-season matches and then will proceed to districts. Their season has been quite successful being 11-3 so far. As they wrap up their season, Hadley will hopefully continue to greaten her number of career kills making it more challenging for another Lady Ram to beat her records someday.
