PowderPuff football is a fun opportunity for girls to be able to play football. I decided to capture all the happy and exciting moments throughout the 5 practices and gameday.
For my media class, we had to make a documentary on something we were interested in or just something going on in the world. I chose Powderpuff. At first, I didn’t exactly know how I was going to be able to capture all these moments while practicing and playing. But with the help of my classmates, I was able to make this happen.
I started by making an outline of how I wanted it to look. This helped me decide the points I wanted to make; with interviews, clips from practice, and clips from the game.
Once we finally figured out who our coaches were going to be(Mr. Irwin and Mr.Romig) and started practices, I started filming. I filmed prepractice interviews, during, and after practice recaps; along with some little montages of drills at practice. After the first practice with both our coaches, interviewed them both on how they thought practices were going.
Then after a short 5 practices….It was game day!!!
For game day, I got a video camera and started my game-time montage. I videoed our team warming up(kicking, running routes, etc) then I asked one of my friends to record the game and halftime show.
The next day, I got the videos and started throwing them together and editing them. I edited the game clips to make them more like a sports edit, with cool effects, lighting, and music; making it all flow together and overall look more cool. Music selection is a huge part of making the videos have more of an effect on the viewer; along with the transitions.
I did all of this to prove that school events can be fun and will give you long-lasting memories. This documentary holds tons of memories and can show future generations what Powderpuff was like during the fall of 2023.
Also, I would like to thank Matthew Ruoff and William Hermann for taking pictures and helping me make the documentary happen.
