As November leads into December, the Penns Valley Lady Rams basketball team begins to reach action. The first basketball game of the season for the Penns Valley Lady Rams took place on Friday, December 1 at the Saint Joseph Catholic Academy. The Lady Rams took on the Saint Joseph Wolves, a strong and well-built team. As the game began, the Lady Rams took it to the Wolves with great confidence. The Lady Rams were ahead for the majority of the first half but the Wolves didn’t let them get out of reach. As halftime came to an end, the Wolves came back fighting for the win, challenging the Lady Rams. With five minutes left the Wolves began to take the lead, leaving the Lady Rams in despair. As the game came to an end, the Wolves came out with the victory, the final score being 52-49. Although this was a tough loss for the Lady Rams, this fueled them for their following game.
Proceeding through the weekend the Lady Rams were then back to ball out on Monday, December 4 as they took on the Mount Union Trojans at home. As soon as the game began it was quite apparent that the Lady Rams were a much stronger and well-developed team than the Trojans. Their dominance led them to a whopping 65-22 victory. Subsequently, on Wednesday, December 6 the Lady Rams were met with the challenge of playing the Tyrone Golden Eagles, one of their biggest rivals. The Lady Rams fought long and hard with the score being very tight the entirety of the game. Although it was tough, the Lady Rams managed to pull off another well-earned 45-40 victory. Following the game, senior player Kayla Hopkins exclaims, “It always feels good beating Tyrone knowing we are both good teams and they are one of our biggest rivals.” The Lady Rams were ecstatic about this big win, preparing them for their game on Friday against Westmont Hilltop.
