On August 29, 2023, The Big Time Blondes officially became 1 of the announcements groups of Penns Valley Area High School. The group consisting of Kendall Guiswhite, Maddie Butler, and Taylor Bumgardner, quickly became a hit through the halls of Penns Valley.
Throughout the 6 months of working together, we made a compilation of videos; these being announcements, trailers, short films, segments, and documentaries. All showing how much our skills have changed and improved from being a part of the media department. We all did a fair share of the workload, editing certain clips that needed to be edited and filming.
We started with a ‘Guess the football senior’ segment where we went around asking other students and younger football players who the football senior was with a baby picture of them. In our first block classes(where we watched the announcements), everyone loved this segment; other students in the class tried guessing who the senior was, this got the students involved and more intrigued by the morning announcements.
Nothing felt better than making your peers/classmates laugh at 8 am with something you made just for fun.
As we continued through the year, the support grew. When we were out filming, junior high kids would ask “Are you guys the Big Time Blondes?”. With our iconic intro inspired by Big Time Rush, it’s easy for people to remember us as a group.
We are now approaching our last 2 weeks apart in the media department. Maddie and Kendall are graduating this year, making this their last ever time being a part of the PVHS news crew. On the other hand, I am a junior so I still have one more year to possibly be able to show my skill in this field. It will never be the same though without my fellow Big Time Blonde girls.
The experience I had with this class and group was fantastic. The fun times filming, watching other classmate’s videos, our potlucks for holidays, etc. all made this class beyond fun.
With reminiscing all the good times that were shared, it will never be the same.
