Penns Valley’s Football team headed into Bellefonte Friday Night looking to break their four-game losing streak, which consisted of losses to Bellwood-Antis, Bedford, Bald Eagle, and a close battle last Friday night against the mounties of Philipsburg-Osceola where they were defeated 21-34. The Red Raiders were coming into this game 2-2 and they came out of it with a record of 3-2. The Rams were defeated 34-13 on Friday night. Going into the half the Red Raiders and Rams were tied at 13 apiece. Bellefonte was on the board first but the Rams quickly responded with a Koltin Shawver 3-yard touchdown rush late in the first quarter. The Red Raiders answered with a touchdown on the very next drive taking the lead 13-6. The Rams didn’t respond until about 2 minutes were remaining on the game clock, Tripp Watson recovered a fumble and it was an Ironside to Ironside touchdown pass to follow. A slant that was caught at the forty-five-yard line and ran in for the Penns Valley score to even the board up at 13-13 going into the half. The Red Raiders took the lead early into the third quarter and never looked back, ending the game on a 21-0 scoring run. A score doesn’t give you all of the information sometimes, in their latest loss the Rams showed a fight and this was a fight we hadn’t seen in this young season, Carter Ironside9 had this to say about the game on Friday, “I think it really showed our teams fight and our character, we’re starting to put things together”. It was another tough battle for the improving Rams, with their homecoming game this Friday they are looking to break their five-game losing streak as they take on the undefeated Clearfield Bison.
