The game when two rivals play against each other is the most interesting until one team doesn’t come together and feel determined then the game ends quickly.
This past week Penns Valley and Bald Eagle played against each other and unfortunately for Penns Valley volleyball the rival game turned blue and gold, a 4-set game ending in under an hour. The scores of every game are the following: set 1 (16-25), set 2 (27-25), set 3 (13-25), then set 4 (22-25) This was not the team’s full potential but more an “off” day. Penns Valley in the beginning of the first set was leading in points but unfortunately got behind and stayed behind. The outside hitter Peyton Wasson says “We played consistently just didn’t have our spark”. The team’s record at the moment is 2-8.
Coach Baldwin has high expectations for the team and the rest of the season. The lineup has made some changes so hopefully, there will be a difference in their play. Districts are a high goal for the team; if they come together, there is a high chance they will be able to make districts. For the team, communication is the main problem due to drop balls and shanks occurring throughout many games. During practice, Penn Valley has been practicing communication and serve received from this there is a notice of difference.
The end of the season is not near so let’s hope we see Penns Valley volleyball enhance their play and have a chance for districts.
