Several changes have been springing around the Penns Valley High and Elementary Schools. With the administration’s expansions to the parking lots, road improvements, and crosswalks established in the schools, our school is already beginning to look towards greater accessibility. So comes the question: What next?
And so comes the answer: Maintenance. According to Dr. Miller, our Director of Facilities, “We have just completed the parking and traffic project for PVHS and PVEI, which was about a one-and-a-half-year project. Aside from regularly scheduled maintenance, there are no current plans for construction projects at either school.”
With the halt of external progress comes internal improvement. The “regularly scheduled maintenance” refers to a multi-year workshop plan to improve our high and middle schools, Centre Hall, and Miles Township. So what can we expect to see at Penns Valley’s schools in the coming year?
Currently, two steps to this plan are already in progress. Firstly, more advances to our schools’ parking and traffic safety are being made, with the configuration of the parking lots and roadways around the schools. Secondly, the school plans to upgrade its servers, and a step they are currently taking is adding a conduit for their electronics.
In light of damages to the school property, tiles, doors, and concrete will be renewed around PVEI, PVHS, and Centre Hall, as well as HVAC systems, water heaters, and door security. New bollards for the schools’ entrances are also in order, and visitor monitoring software can be expected to come to our schools this coming year.
Although Penns Valley has no upcoming news of new sections to our buildings, our administrators will be hard at work this year to improve students’ and visitors’ experience in our schools. A full spreadsheet of these plans can be accessed here.
