It was the last game of the volleyball season and very stressful. But we got through it. There were multiple rallies. We girls tried to push through as best as we could. We were angry and stressed, but Coach Skylar kept saying, “All you need is energy, consistency, and confidence.”
We lost most of the sets, lost enough to lose the game. Us girls had a hard game but made the best of it. We made sure they had fun, knowing it was the last game with the same girls and that we were probably never going to play with those girls again. The more we lost energy and confidence, the more we started to lose the game. We started to yell at each other for mistakes we were all making, but in the end, we always made up.
The game started to get intense. The rallies kept going and going. We all knew we were getting in the other team’s head, but we also knew they were getting in ours. We all really wanted to win this game, but we all lost our energy, consistency, and confidence. The more we kept arguing the more we lost our confidence, energy, and consistency.
I don’t have the final scores, but I do remember it was a pretty harsh game. The score wasn’t as bad as you may think, but we sure didn’t win. It was the last game of the season so we tried our best to do well. We didn’t do great, but we did well. After the game, we all huddled up and broke it down one last time with the girls we played with this season: That was it, the last game.
