Penns Valley Junior and Senior High School celebrates the holidays with much enthusiasm and spirit. But what are some ways the school has created holiday cheer?
12 Days of Spirit
Penns Valley’s student council has crafted more than just a spirit week- but 12 days of spirit. Starting on December 5th, the spirit days go as follows:
12/5: Favorite sweater
12/6: Festive socks
12/9: favorite headwear
12/10: favorite flannel
12/11: Summer apparel
12/12: holiday character
12/13: pajamas
12/16: hats, boots, and vests
12/17: green Grinch
12/18: twin day
12/19: wear stripes
12/20: ugly sweater
Christmas Play
Ms. Farrant’s 4th Block drama class hosted a Christmas play: Santa Might not be Coming to Town. The play features an elf named Dipsy who is fed up with the increasingly long Christmas season. Dipsy, with other elves and misfit toys, goes on an adventure to find Santa and demand better working conditions.
Toy Drive
The Penns Valley Key Club, led by Mrs. Amy, held a Toys for Tots drive to collect toys for those in need. Boxes were placed in every classroom. The toy drive began at the end of November and ended at the beginning of December. In total, 120 toys were collected throughout the school, with Mr. Zatek’s RAM bringing in the most.
Jingle Bell Jam
The Jingle Bell Jam is an event that takes place on the last day of school before winter break each year, but this year it comes with a twist. Aside from the normal activities that students have to choose from, such as watching movies, playing games, and doing crafts, there will be a talent show. The talent show will take place for junior and senior high, and staff members will also be allowed to participate. Many performances have been planned and will be judged on Friday, December 20th.
Those are just a few ways that Penns Valley celebrates the holidays within the school.
