Allies in Action is a program designed by Centre Safe for student volunteers from our High School in grades 10, 11, and 12. Volunteers will lead conversations with students in 5th and 6th grade about bullying prevention, and promoting positive peer relationships.
I am volunteering because I want to teach kids how to be nice to each other and how to treat others with the same respect they want. I believe that by doing these presentations/ activities it will teach the kids to care more for each other. Being kind takes nothing at all and you never know when being kind could make someone’s day.
Centre Safe wants to teach kids how to be kind to one another but also to not bully because you never know what someone is going through. Centre Safe is allowing us volunteers to learn all about bullying and just help others who need it in tough times. We will be taught all the information then we will move on and begin to create useful and helpful information to teach the 5th and 6th graders.
Overall, stepping up and volunteering makes a big difference and that’s what Centre Safe wants to accomplish by providing this program is to see a change in how students interact with each other and how they treat one another. Having positive peer relationships goes along way because those people will be there to support you no matter what.
