Mountain League Champs and District 6 runner up is how you could describe last year’s Girls Basketball team. Led by six seniors, Bella Culver, Jordan Andrus, Emma Butler, Paige Kubalak, Olia Corman and manager Caroline Collison. Coached by Karen McCaffrey, Robert Irwin and assisted by Tom Butler.

This year we have a new coaching staff, the head coach is Terrance Green assisted by Katie Kurtz and volunteer coach Tom Butler is planning to help as well. The returning letterman are Hannah Montminy, Lydia Collison, and Kennedy Welshans.

The first day of preseason is November 18th, 2019, and the girls will have a joined practice with junior high the first day only. There are two weeks of practice before the first scrimmage on November 30th, 2019 against Southern Huntington.

As of right now, there is a Stroke Awareness night against Central, on December, 12th, Military Appreciation against Huntington, on January 10th, Cancer Awareness night against Bald Eagle, December 18th, Junior High Appreciation night against Tyrone, on January 22nd, Teacher and Staff Appreciation night against PO, on February 2nd, and lastly, we have senior night, January 28th, 2020.

Lydia Collison states, ” I am really excited for this season and to play alongside the fellow seniors that have been with me since 7th grade.”

Hannah Montminy says, “I’m excited to play my final season with my teammates and make memories while playing a sport that I love.”

Kennedy Welshans says,” I’m looking forward to playing my last season with all of my teammates and hopefully make it farther than we ever had before.”

The girls this year hope to make new memories and make it to the district 6 finals again but this time come home with a trophy.
