Turkey Trot

The turkey trot is a 5k run/ walk that starts at the Old Greg School in Spring Mills. The trukey trot is a fundraiser and all the proceeds go to the Penns Valley Hope Fund. They made a little over $1,200 in that one day. They had many volunteers helping out that day ,which many were just high school students that are apart of the National Honors Society.

The Turkey Trot was originally started as a Penns Valley senior’s graduation project. Kyle Houser thought that having a 5k run/walk can raise a lot of money for the Hope Fund. A member of the Penns Valley teachers and the teacher who organizes National Honors Society, Mrs Smith was hoping for them to raise a lot of money for the Penns Valley Hope Fund. She and many others were very pleased with how the fundraiser turned out. People from all over PV come out and ran, it was many different ages running. During the trot students from Penns Valley who are in National Honors Society worked the fundraiser. People normally sign up before hand to let people know how many people will be running. This year many people signed up to run before the race but more and more people showed up to run which was great for the trot and great for raising money for the Hope Fund. The Hope Fund got multiple generous donations and with this money they can do so many wonderful things, they supply financial support to family’s in need around Penns Valley. The Hope Fund has changed many people and families lives, because without the Hope Fund and their help families would be struggling more and more.

The Turkey Trot 2019 has had many people volunteering and running that day.
