The Penns Valley Girls Basketball team has had quite the incredible record over the last few years- winning seasons, Mountain League champs, District 6 Champs, and so on. Although the team has some great victories as a whole, one of the players has just accomplished an amazing victory of her own.

Hannah Montminy, a senior and a three-year varsity starter, reached 1,000 career points as of Monday December 23rd against Bald Eagle. After their game against Tyrone on December 13th, she only needed 28 points to reach this goal and the community was hopeful that she would get it that following week. Unfortunately, both of the games scheduled that next week were cancelled due to weather.

The suspense kept building as everyone, including Montminy, wanted to see this happen. At the girls’ next game against Bellefonte, Hannah scored 16 out of the 28 points and only needed 12 more. That next Monday over Christmas break, the fans knew she was bound to get it against Bald Eagle.

Sure enough, Hannah was putting up three-pointers left and right. She put up three of them easily and the suspense was getting more and more real. In the second half of the game, she shot another three and the crowd went crazy. The team stormed the court and was able to share that incredible moment with Hannah.

“It means a lot to me just to have this opportunity and to feel all of the support from my friends and family,” Montminy says.

Hannah is not the first Montminy to reach this goal, as her brother Kevin reached 1,000 points in his senior basketball season as well. Kevin, as well as the rest of her family and friends, is extremely proud of Hannah and is very excited to see what she will accomplish next.
