Kelsey Hull is a senior at Penns Valley, where runs cross country and track and field. Running became a passion of hers when she moved here from Jersey Shore.

“I started running when I joined junior high track in seventh grade. I didn’t know anybody and thought it would be a good place to meet people and make friends.”

She quickly fell in love with it and hasn’t stopped since. Once she hit 9th grade, she went out for cross country. Every year since then she has been seen running on either the track or around the cross country course. When asked what she’d be doing if running wasn’t as great as it turned out to be she had to think for a second.

“I honestly don’t know, I guess I would have stuck to playing basketball or became involved with a club like academic decathlon. I like to think of myself as an outgoing person so I would have needed to do something. No way I would have been able to sit around my house all day long.”

Once school was shut down in March and COVID became more of a problem as time went on, everyone was wondering how sports would be handled in the fall, if at all.

“If sports had been canceled, I don’t know what I would have done. Eventually, I would have gotten over it, but missing that last senior season would have been devastating. I’m not a very big fan of everything we have to do for COVID, but if it means we get to have a season I’ll do everything I have to.”

Kelsey and the other cross country runners can be seen on Saturday, the 19th in Altoona at a race.
