Penns Valley Wrestling Dominates Sectionals

The Penns Valley Wrestling team dominated their way through the PIAA AA Section II tournament. The Rams won the overall tournament by 19 team points to capture the title for the team. COVID-19 has affected the sport of Wrestling very largely this year as the rams went into the tournament with only having 5 matches under their belt and needing to place top 2 in the section in order to move on towards the district tournament held in the Altoona High School on this upcoming Saturday, February 20th.

The Rams took full stride with their challenge of having minimal mat time in the sectional tournament held at Bald Eagle Area High School winning the team points by 19 points. The Rams have 7 wrestlers in total moving on to the district tournament on Saturday. These wrestlers include Justin Darlington who finished in second place, Ty Watson who also took 2nd, along with Dristen Wolfe, Hunter Lyons, Malachi DuVall, and Ben Sharer who all placed first in the tournament on the Tuesday, February 17th,  2021. The Rams competed against teams such as West Branch, Bald Eagle, Phillipsburg  Osceola, and Saint Josephs Catholic Academy. Micah Fetterolf was also added to this list after the second place finisher at his weight has dropped out of the tournament.

The Rams look to capture high seedings this Saturday to push towards a run at regionals and states in weeks to come. Star wrestler senior, Malachi DuVall will look to make one last run at states after having placed 7th and 3rd in his past two seasons.
