Despite health official warning Texas Governor Gregg Abbott lifted the mask mandate and allowed businesses to open to 100% capacity. These will go into effect on March 10th. This sparked outrage across the Country. Some citizens of Texas are scared because 93.2% of their population is still not Vaccinated. Small business owners are also worried because the problem that they are now going to face is that of customers who don’t wear masks. Ultimately is it up to the businesses whether to require mask use without a mandate is that it will now fall on hourly workers to try to enforce this against hostile people. This puts these workers at double risk.

Mississippi’s Gov. Tate Reeves followed in Texas’s footsteps and tweeted “Our hospitalizations and case numbers have plummeted, and the vaccine is being rapidly distributed, It’s Time!” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said that by doing this they may lose their hard-earned ground against the Virus.

What will happen when this goes into effect?

It’s hard to say what exactly will happen when these mandates go into effect but, it can be inferred with the recent statistics about the correlation of cases when masks aren’t worn that the cases in Texas will skyrocket. Some people are questioning whether this will help anything or if it will make it worse. There are also a lot of questions about whether this vaccine will work against the new string of Corona Virus that was recently discovered. President Biden has still yet to directly comment on the matter.
