Summer with Covid

Summer with Covid

Alexis Dunkle

With so many deaths and problems that have taken place during this pandemic, everyone is hopeful for this summer. With all the new vaccines everyone is hopeful that things will go back to normal with everyone vaccinated. At this point in time, about 33 million people have been vaccinated, or 10% of the United States population is fully vaccinated. Read more about covid in the summer here. Covid cases are declining even faster than experts thought, and this means that our summer is more likely to go back to normal. Experts also believe that these rates will continue to decline, and this is because high-risk people have been vaccinated. If what all of these experts are saying is true, it is predicted that we will have a normal summer. Hopefully, 70-80% of the population will be vaccinated by August, meaning we should have a pretty normal summer, and school year. Biden said that most of the population should be vaccinated by May. It has now been about a year since we shut down due to covid, and it is nice to know that we will probably have a normal summer, and our pre-pandemic life will start up again. Right now there are 3 main vaccines that are being given. This includes Pfizer’s vaccine which was approved mid-December and is 2 doses. There is also the Moderna vaccine that was approved a week after Pfizer and is also 2 doses. The more recent vaccine is Johnson & Johnson vaccine was just approved in late February and is 1 dose. Based on the numbers dropping, and the vaccines coming out it is very likely that we will have a normal summer.

Hopefully, everything will be back to normal by summer, and we can enjoy things like camping, and going to the beach.
