Radar report of storm movement this week.

A snow storm is to approach Penns Valley on Friday, February 4 2022. They are saying the arctic air will be going through the Northeastern part of the United State through the week. “The press of the Arctic air is going to slow and stall, while at the same time a pair of storms will move northeastward along that temperature boundary,” (Rayno, Accuweather). The air temperature is said to result in freezing rain if the cold air becomes deep and shallow in the atmosphere.

With freezing rain comes icy roads which could result in Penns Valley’s schools closing for a Flexible Instruction Day or possible delay depending on when the roads can be cleared. The weather report is also calling for 1-3 of snow and 0.15-0.25 inches of ice.

If the school closes for a snow day the students will still get attendance by participating in a Flexible Instruction Day. Teachers will give their students an assignment and depending on if they get it done, the day will be counted as a regular school day for attendance. It’s a great way for students to still get a school day while being safe at home.

Penns Valley is hoping that they can be in school on Friday but if the storm continues to move like it is that won’t happen. Schools on the Western part of Pennsylvania have already called for an early dismissal as of today, Thursday, February 3. The storm isn’t expected to reach Penns Valley however until late Thursday night and into the early morning on Friday.
