The Penns Valley boys basketball regular season has come to a close as they defeated Hollidaysburg 51-46 this Wednesday, 2/16/22. The Rams have a current record of  11-11, and have a current standing of 6th in the Mountain League, and will now look forward to their district playoff match up with Philipsburg-Osceola next Thursday, 2/24/22 at Philipsburg-Osceola.

In the beginning of the season the Rams started off the year with a rough five game losing streak, losing to three conference opponents such as Huntington, Tyrone, and Bellefonte. However the Rams would pick up four wins in their next 6 games, two of the wins being against conference opponents Bald Eagle Area (Score: 59-39) , and Clearfield (Score: 53-48). And the other two wins being against non-conference opponents Hamburg (Score: 60-21), and Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy (Score: 50-26). In the 53-48 overtime win against Clearfield, senior Zach Braucht reached a milestone of scoring one thousand points in front of the home Penns Valley fans, where students stormed the court to celebrate the win and the one thousand point milestone. The Rams would go on to win seven of  their last eleven games of the season. They would pickup key wins in their second meetings against Tyrone (Score: 52-45), Bellefonte(Score: 50-42), and Hollidaysburg (Score: 51-46). The Rams finished the season with an exceptional home record of 9-3, and a not a great away record of 2-8.

With a Rams win against Philipsburg-Osceola in the district playoff game they would move on in district play, as well as clinching a spot in the state tournament. Good luck to the Rams next Thursday.
