IOS 16 Changes

With the new update to the iPhones operating system, there are a plethora of new changes that people do not know about and this could effect the many students in Penns Valley that have an Apple phone. To access this new update of IOS 16 you have to go from settings → general → software update and then click update to IOS 16. This update provides many new features such as a revamped and customizable lock screen, changed notifications, enhanced messaging, changes to the photos app, and car play that can fully integrate itself into the software. I interviewed Aidan Korman, a  Penns Valley student who stated, “The new IOS 16 allowed for better customization and personalization of the lock and home screen and overall is a big improvement.”

The most noticeable change in this update is the new lock screen, it is fully customizable now. You can change the font, and add widgets for things like weather, calendar, and the clock, you can now have multiple backgrounds as a single one that changes based on taps or time. Plus, after setting a lock screen photo the new software gives you the option to have an automatically generated gradient as your home screen. Also, the notifications now show up at the bottom of the lock screen to not take away from the new features.

Some of the lesser known features of this update are the ability to edit messages after already sending them, being able to take out certain aspects of photos and sending them like a snap chat sticker, and revamped car play that will not be implemented until 2023. This feature will revamp the car’s look so it shows Apple maps and has a customizable interface that can show whatever you want. All features are shown Here too on apple’s website.
