The Penns Valley girls’ soccer team has a record of 7-0. They, along with the varsity football team are undefeated so far this season. The girls’ games so far have included playing Central Mountain, Tyrone, Bellefonte, and Bald Eagle.

This year they are under new coaching, with Andrew Beverly, their old head coach, leaving to go coach the men’s team at Penn State Altoona. Sean Herrmann came in to replace Beverly and has had his hand in helping the girls with their victories. Herrmann coached the boys’ junior high team for several years and is also a track and field coach. The assistant coaches are the same as previous years, Autumn Rosenberg and Hayley Wildeson.

Last year, their record was 6-10-1, so to start off with a 7-0 record is already looking like an improvement for the team. They are currently second in the Mountain League, only behind Clearfield who has a record of 6-0. Clearfield was first in the Mountain League last year, going into districts with a record of 19-0.

The girls are optimistic about their season this year, with junior Scotty Dinges saying, “I think we’re doing really well given we are undefeated and I think we have really good chemistry as a team.”

Senior night will be held on Monday, September 19th, honoring the nine seniors on the team. This includes Hannah Clark, Nikki Denger, Avery Dinges, Paige Dobson, Bekah Gillespie, Abbey Mingear, Paige Musser, and Noelle Webb. They will be facing off against Philipsburg Osceola, who has a record of 2-4.
