On October 11th, 2022, I had the opportunity of interviewing Cedar Kimler about the 2022 boys’ soccer season. I first asked him what he thought of the soccer season so far. He responded, “I think the soccer season has gone very well. We are 9-2-3 and we are currently tied for 1st place in D6 AA.” To understand the chemistry of the team I asked him if he thought that we worked well together, and his response was, “I do believe our soccer team works well together. We have good chemistry from the front to the back of the formation. It is one of the things that makes our team so dangerous and it’s one of the reasons we have such a good record.” I asked him to elaborate a little on why he thought we worked so together to which he responded, “First of all, we are all good friends so we already knew each other well. That made it easy for us to mesh on the field and learn how to play together. We also understand our individual roles on the soccer field. Players know what to do, which is another reason we are able to function so well as a team.”

Looking toward the end of the season I asked if he thought we had a good chance of winning districts to which he stated, “We definitely have a chance of winning districts. We have shown that we can beat any team we face. We only have 2 losses on the season, both of which were against AAA teams. Both our offense and defense are very effective. Most importantly, everyone on the team has a strong drive to win games.” I also asked him what his favorite memory of the season had been thus far and he explained,” My favorite times have been postgame. After varsity finishes playing JV has a game so the varsity players get to watch the game and we can sit around to watch the game and talk about things.” I finally asked him about his last game and the next game that the team plays. He explained, “The last game we played was on Monday against Bald Eagle at home. It was also the youth night. We won 3-1. Our next soccer game is on Wednesday against Philipsburg Osceola, also at home.” The next boy’s soccer game Cedar referred to was Senior night, which the boys won. Cedar scored one of the 4 goals in the game which solidified the 4-3 win.
