Where are the Garage Doors Going?

Wesley Morrison

The garage door crisis is real in America and today I decided to research what is causing the shortage. So what’s really causing this shortage? Well to no surprise it is a shortage of supplies; Spray foam insulation, steel, and polyurethane are the main supplies that are coming up short, but a shortage of supplies isn’t the only thing slowing down the production of garage doors. While researching I found that since the Covid 19 virus, more people in cities moved into houses farther away from the city. Obviously, with all these new demands for housing, this brought the need for garage doors.  And now since there is a shortage of materials the demand for garage doors is rising. This issue is creating a domino effect in different industries. Higher demand for garage doors means more materials are going to be used which further shortens the supply of materials they have to create the garage doors. This also means that there will most likely be a rise in the price of garage doors since there is a limited number of resources. Thankfully as of 2022, the shortages have begun to dwindle and the number of resources available to these companies is growing. Hopefully, by 2023 we will have made a full recovery and gotten the garage door industry back on track. Well, that concludes this story about the shortage of garage doors. Covid 19 brought many challenges but it’s good to see we are overcoming most of the supply chain shortages that were previously a problem.
