On September 21st, Grange Fair held its annual Homecoming Parade. Each year a theme is picked. In past years there were themes like Game Night, Disney, and Wizard of Oz. This year the theme was Movie Night. Sports teams, classes, and schools came together to build floats that followed the theme. This year we saw floats based on Despicable Me, Jaws, A League of Their Own, and many other creative ideas. These different teams ride their floats through the park and to the judges for final judging. Before the results of float decorating are announced, we recognize the homecoming court nominees, football seniors, and the winners of door decorating. This is the second year in a row that Penns Valley is having a homecoming king.
This year the Penns Valley swim team had a very impressive float based on the movie Jaws. This incredible float won them first place. The Lady Rams soccer team came in second place with their outstanding float based on Despicable Me. Lastly, the Lady Rams volleyball team came in third with their amazing take on the theme of family movie night. High school teacher and varsity football coach Mr. Tobias says, ” Homecoming is not about us as teachers but about the students. It is a chance for students to celebrate the school and their pride in their community.”
Next time the homecoming season comes around, make sure you go to the homecoming parade.
