GOAL! Yes, that’s right, it’s that time of year again. The Penns Valley lady rams are back and ready to defend their title as the Mountain League champions.

Their season has started off rocky with a loss to Shikellamy, but luckily it was a non-league game, so it won’t effect them in reclaiming their Mountain League title. Next they played a hard game against Central Martinsburg, losing in double over-time with an ending score of 2-1. In their most recent game our soccer girls made a comeback and “blapped Bellefonte, 6-1” as said by central defensive mid Maria Lovallo. “As the season has progressed we’ve improved from game to game” states Maria, and this is clearly shown by just the few games they’ve played.

With a new school year and loss of all our seniors every sport is trying to regroup and build their team, but for our soccer girls Maria shared that “our core group of varsity starters is essentially the same as last year, so we’re hoping for a consistent if not improved end result.” Along with that she shares they’re “close as a team and gel well together, although there’s always room for improvement on the field.”

Their goals for the season are to “win the Mountain League, continue to develop as players and play cohesively as a team” informs Maria. And they will be sure to achieve this with all the hard work these girls are putting in. Even though losing to Central Martinsburg will affect their standing in the Mountain League it’s still to early to predict the end result of the season. So let’s all show up and support our lady rams on the field.
