In the eighth century, Pope Gregory the 3rd designated November 1st as a time to honor saints. Halloween can be traced back to aincent Celtic festival called Samhain. Halloween originated around 2,000 years ago. The pumpkin is the national symbol of Halloween to frighten away Jack´s Wondering Soul. When the immigrants moved the United States they began carving pumpkins, and putting candles inside. This is still very popular and a tradition families still do today.
