Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took the simplest thing used in your everyday day like Butter and made it into a book? Well, that’s what I did and I feel like its kinda interesting. It started as a bit of a joke between me and my 7th grade English teacher Mrs Heckmen. And then turned into an amazing short story.
See it started like 1 week before the end of the first marking period my 7th grade year. And I don’t remember how it exactly started but I know someone had mentioned something and it turned into me writing the first paragraph. And then after that I stopped and then Mrs. Heckmen my 7th-grade English teacher gave me the idea and inspiration to actually make it into a short story. And when I heard that we were gonna make short stories later that year I knew I had to do it.
So before we get too far into the story I think we need to interview Mrs Heckmen herself and see what she thinks. After I interviewed Mrs Heckmen these were her answers.
How do you think Butter originally started: Well I don’t really know officially but I think with how creative your mind is you just kinda looked at an everyday item and said what if it could talk.
What is your honest opinion on Butter: I think it’s a really well-written piece But I feel like you wrote it from the perspective of you.
How much potential do you think it has: I feel like you would need to tone it down for smaller audiences but if high schoolers were to read it I think they would say that’s what I was like in seventh grade.
What do you think made Butter such a strong story: How you added your own emotional elements into so like you were telling your own story through Butters’s story.
Who is your favorite character and least favorite character: I think Bread would have to be my favorite and Dog would have to be my least favorite.
Do you think Butter kinda resembles my life in a way: Yes because I know the struggles you went through and I know when I read it kinda reminded me of you.
So as you can see Mrs Heckmen had a lot to say. And I agree with her on most of it and I really think that it’s a great story with great potential but like everything it has limits.
At the time I was going through some hard stuff. But this article is about Butter so yeah. I think that I just kinda wanted to express myself in a way and that’s how I ended up with Butter but I never realized how much it resembles my life until later on. And I feel like it will always be with me.
Well, that’s how I made a book about butter.
