This holiday season is right around the corner and I was tasked with creating a documentary. I chose to film a documentary about Thanksgiving. Since this was my first documentary I had a lot to learn. One of the most challenging things was coming up with something to film about. After I came up with an idea I needed to start recording. In my documentary, I filmed what I did over Thanksgiving break, interviewed people about their Thanksgiving, and included Christmas decorating since I did most of it over break.
Throughout my documentary, you will learn about my and others Thanksgiving traditions. I held a few interviews with some classmates and even my younger cousin, Tessa. It was so interesting to learn how different families celebrate Thanksgiving. Some families travel over the holiday while some stay home. One of my classmates and interviewees, Addy Miller, stated: “My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is breaking the wishbone with my mom every year”. One of my other interviewees, Mallory Stover said her favorite tradition was picking names out of a hat for her family’s Secret Santa. While we all have family traditions, not everyone has the same.
Another thing you will see in my documentary is different clips and pictures from my experiences over the break. I took videos of my family’s Thanksgiving dinner and a timelapse of me and my family decorating our Christmas tree. I also showed pictures and videos of my trip to Pittsburgh to celebrate with my family. In Pittsburgh, we ate delicious food and decorated my gram’s tree.
I enjoyed learning about other people’s Thanksgiving traditions and I hope you all enjoyed your break as well.
