The Pennsylvania Farm Show is held every year from January 6th to January 12th at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Our FFA chapter goes on the 8th every year because that is the Mid-Winter Convention which is a convention where the FFA state officers come to talk about FFA, recognize FFA advisors, and FFA students that will be receiving their jackets. Our FFA chapter had 3 kids receive their jackets this year.
The Farm Show is a big deal to some and is a very big attraction for many, there are a lot of things to go watch and do for example you can go and see the butter sculpture which is completely made out of butter and is very cool to see. This year the Farm Show held the first-ever mullet contest which consisted of all types of mullets and age groups. Farm Show is the place where kids can take their animals to show and compete against a whole bunch of other kids from different FFA chapters.
The Farm Show has been going on since 1917 and will continue to go on for many years, it’s a big attraction and will always bring so many people to come to see all the competitive events that are going on throughout the week. Farm Show has over 10,000 competitive events that are spread over 35 departments. There’s always something going on so you can never be bored while being there.
On January 13th, the Farm Show complex holds the First Frontier Rodeo which takes place in the big arena and consists of bull riding, barrel racing, bareback riding, bronc riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, and calf wrestling. I’ve gone 2 years in a row and it is very fun to watch this event also draws a crowd. I would recommend going to the Farm Show and rodeo if that interests you.
