Farewell Penns Valley, thank you for all the fun memories with the faculty and students. A lot of the teachers at Penns Valley make your day with their enthusiasm and excitement and they are all very good at making small talk. Mr. Farley (my favorite teacher here at PV) is the man the myth the legend. He’s part of the homies, and he is always joking around and just an all-around good guy. Would not have made it through or at least have had a good time without him there.
Many people when they think of high school or school in general always talk about “the good times”. My favorite memory here at Penns Valley is going to the football team. My junior year was the conference championship and if you win then you go to the States. The football team has not gone that far since 1992, so it was special to be a part of that game. It was the last 10 seconds in the first half and Bishop Guilfoil was kicking a field goal. All that I remember is Coach Tobias saying “I don’t care if you get a penalty I want that ball for momentum”. We line up and I tell Jarrett Stover: the guy next to me, block the guy on me, and I’ll go get the ball. He did and I rushed to dive for the ball and the kicker panicked and started running. When I saw he was running I went for him and people started to tackle him, I then grabbed the ball from his hands and started running. I scored a touchdown to make it a one-score game for us to go into the second half with momentum. We had lost that game but it was definitely a once and a lifetime experience.
Thank you Penns Valley. Thank you to the football program and all of the teachers for making my high school special and transforming me into the man I am today. Farewell Penns Valley.
