The Eras Tour was started in March 2023 and kicked off the tour in Glendale, Arizona. This tour spans 18 years of music and Taylor Swift’s entire career. Every night at least 46 songs are played and is a non-stop, 3-hour-long show. No night on this tour is the same, and each is special in its own way. On this tour fans started a tradition where they make friendship bracelets to trade with other fans at their show.
Lover
Lover is the opening act of The Eras Tour. The first song played is a partial song called “Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince” Straight after “Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince,” the entire song of “Cruel Summer” is sung. Here she addresses the crowd by saying “Oh Hi!” and before the bridge, she asks the crowd if they know the lyrics to the bridge. After “Cruel Summer” she gives a little speech about how many fans are there and if an attendance record was broken. After she plays the entire song of “The Man” in the bodysuit’s matching jacket. After “The Man,” she plays a short bit of “You Need To Calm Down”. Then she removes her jacket and is back in her bodysuit, grabs her guitar to play “Lover” and addresses the crowd once more. After this, she leaves the stage for a quick change into the next era, Fearless.
Fearless
Taylor comes skipping out of the back of the stage with her sparkly guitar in hand and one of 6 dresses and begins playing ‘Fearless”. After “Fearless” she removes her guitar and asks the crowd if they are ready to go back to high school with her then goes straight into “You Belong with Me”. Right after “You Belong with Me” she starts playing “Love Story”. After “Love Story” she disappears into the stage to move into the next era, RED.
Red
Taylor walks out of the back main screen and is wearing one of the 6 t-shirts for 22, and a black fedora hat. During a break in the song, she skips up to the front of the stage and meets a little fan. Taylor hugs the fan, takes off her hat, and gives it to the fan. After that she skips back and starts singing again. But another tradition with this era is again: every night, one of her backup dancers, Kam, says a different thing into the microphone. Before the song “We Are Never Getting Back Together” Taylor takes off the 22 t-shirt and wears the black-to-red sparkly bodysuit. After “I Knew You Were Trouble” she puts on a matching long jacket and grabs her guitar, either a matte red one or a sparkly black one. During this, she plays the 10-minute version of “All Too Well”. After this song, she disappears into the stage to put on her ball gown for Speak Now.
Speak Now
It’s time for the Speak Now era. The door at the end of the stage opens and she walks out wearing one of 9 full ball gowns. 4 of these dresses are now retired and haven’t been seen for 10+ shows. She starts singing “Enchanted”. At this point, this is the only song this era has but for one point during the pre-TTPD (The Tortured Poets Department) shows she got out her Koy Fish Guitar and played Long Live. This only lasted until the European leg of the tour started, when TTPD was added to the setlist.
Reputation
Taylor walks out and starts by singing Track 1 on Reputation called “Ready for it?…” For 123 shows this era had 1 outfit, a red and black bodysuit with red snakes climbing up it. On Miami night 1, she walked out in a gold and black bodysuit with Cobras climbing up it. After “Ready for it?..” She plays ‘delicate’ where the visuals on the stage show the stage cracking like glass as she walks. Then she plays “Don’t Blame Me” and transitions into “Look What You Made Me Do” and ends the set disappearing into the stage to change into her Folkmore dress.
Folkmore (Folklore and Evermore)
This era consists of 2 albums: Folklore and Evermore (known as the sister albums). These albums used to have separate sets but when The Tortured Poets Department was added to the set list they got combined into 1 era. The Evermore era had 2 dresses, a bronze one and an orange one. Taylor comes out of the stage sitting on top of a cabin, called the folklore cabin. She plays “Cardigan” and goes down the stairs into the cabin and grabs her guitar and plays “Betty”. One of the more emotional songs in this era is called “Marjorie” For this song the fans light up the stadium with their flashlights in honor of Taylor’s grandma whom “Marjorie” is about. After “Willow” Taylor disappears into the stage to get ready for 1989.
1989
Taylor comes out onto the stage wearing a two-piece set, either matched or mix-matched. There is a pink, yellow, green, blue, orange, and purple top and pink, yellow, green, blue, orange, and purple shirts. This era has five songs, three of which were shortened. Before the international tour dates, there were only sets in green, blue, pink, and orange.
The Tortured Poets Department
Until November 2024 this era was exclusive to the international European shows. This era has 7 songs (Now six). On London Night 8 Taylor added a song called “Florida” to the set list but it was removed after the Miami shows. Taylor opens up this era wearing a white dress with lyrics on it. Taylor then makes a quick change on stage to the “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” set. On London Night 3 Travis Kelce was on stage to help with the quick change. After the quick change, Taylor wears a 2 piece set with a matching jacket.
Surprise Songs
Every night on the eras tour 2 different surprise songs were played, one on guitar and one on piano. There are 6 surprise song dresses: solid blue, solid pink, solid orange, a mix of pink and orange, a mix of blue and purple, and a mix of orange, blue, and white. At the start of the summer, she started playing mashups of songs.
Midnights
This is the final era of the concert, and it opens with Taylor wearing a sparkly t-shirt dress and a fluffy purple jacket. She sings “Lavender Haze”. Taylor then removes her jacket and plays “Anti Hero” and “Midnight Rain” During “Midnight Rain” Taylor is on the stage lift and does a little fall and gets caught by her dances to take off the t-shirt dress to reveal a midnight blue bodysuit. There are 3 active (non retired). Taylor then sings 3 more songs before putting on her fringe jacket and plays the final song of the night, Karma.
The Eras tour has been an incredible experience and I have someone who has experienced it firsthand. Here is Livvy Hammer recalling her experience of the Era Tour. “I went to Pittsburgh Night 1 on June 16th, 2023. My surprise songs were “Mr. Perfectly Fine” on guitar, and “The Last Time” on piano. It was a very fun experience for me, I’m very glad I got to go.” As you can see some people in PVHS are Taylor Swift fans (Swifties). After almost 2 years The Eras Tour is coming to an end in 18 days on December 8th, 2024.
