Hello! My name is Owen Braucht. This past semester, I was in Media, and here are some things I learned. I learned how to edit more clearly, and saw that the edits in a video are very important, they allow it to flow smoothly and make the viewer more attentive to the video.
Another thing I learned is if you are a person who publishes news, you should do it in an ethical way and with consent. There are ethical morals in the media world that are important to consider, such as having reliable and true sources, rumors can get you into legal trouble. The biggest one is not bribing someone into a storyline for your publishing, this will without a doubt get you into legal trouble.
This class overall was pretty good, and taught me how to work with others in editing the announcements, although some of the groups I was in did not have academic integrity and simply would push the editing to someone else. Recording segments for the announcements was fun, but it took a lot of future planning to get them into the announcements, but most of the time we forgot to actually record a segment so we would use funny videos from the past, or events such as the talent show and showcase parts of that.
This class made us work in multiple different groups and challenged us to build storylines, and grow in our editing skills. If you ever do media, I would suggest that you do the work when you first receive the notification about it because you can procrastinate very easily with assignments, and then in the end it becomes that your projects were not as good as they could have been. So if you do take media I hope you enjoy! If you’d like more information visit Mr. Farley’s Teacher Webpage.
