On Thursday September 8th, 2022 the NFL Football Season began and with it Fantasy Football as well.

Throughout the Fantasy Football Community team managers were both ecstatic and appalled at some of the performances week one. A majority of the first round players this year were Jonathan Taylor, Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, Justin Jefferson, Dalvin Cook, D’andre Swift, Najee Harris, Derrick Henry, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Jones, Ja’Marr Chase, and Joe Mixon (Not official but most popular first round targets). Jonathan Taylor, Justin Jefferson, D’andre Swift, Cooper Kupp, Ja’Marr Chase, and Joe Mixon lived up to their expectations whereas the rest were huge disappointments and were major busts of the week. For example Cam Akers, Allen Robinson, and Derrick Henry were busts with 0, 2.2, and 8.2 points respectively.

Cedar Kimler, a fantasy football expert was very disappointed with Elijah Mitchell week one, “He tore his MCL and is out for about two months. What a waste of a 7th round pick,” says Cedar Kimler. Here we see how injuries and where players are drafted can be detrimental to people’s fantasy teams invoking anger and disappointment.

Overall week one was an excellent week for wide receivers whereas running backs left a lot on the table performance wise. Some major fantasy targets this week are Jeff Wilson Jr. (after Elijah Mitchell’s injury where he’ll miss 6-8 weeks), Curtis Samuel (dominant performance week 1), and Jahan Dotson (large upside after being on the field for most of week one and scoring two touchdowns).

We’ll see how week two and the other upcoming weeks determine players’ value and who will be dominant and who will be busts in 2022.
