Today is October 10th, 2022 and over half way through the Penns Valley Boys Soccer season.

The boys season has been up and down but began their season back in august and now are over half way through their season with only two weeks of the regular season left. They began the season with a scrimmage against Mifflinburg which they unfortunately lost 3-0. Then then started their season and made up for it with a kick-off tournament located at and hosted by Bald Eagle in which they went 2-0 beating Bellefonte and Bald Eagle to win the tournament.

Today, I interviewed starting striker and senior Cayden Merril about their season and performance thus far:

Me: What is the team’s record this year?

Cayden: 8-2-3, we play Bald Eagle at home today and Philipsburg-Osceola on Wednesday which is also senior night.

Me: What makes you guys a great team?

Cayden: Team chemistry and working effectively together on and off the field.

Cayden is also the leading scorer on the team and was nominated for boys high school athlete of the week by Centre Daily Times

The boys hope to win the remainder of their games to propel themselves positively into the playoffs (as they are almost guaranteed a spot). It is especially important to win their senior night because the team has eleven seniors. Their final season is coming quickly to a close and hope to keep it going by making it far in playoffs. When it does inevitably end it will be emotional for a close group playing together for four years.

We hope to see the boys cap off a successful season and for the seniors to make it a memorable one!
