Powderpuff had its fun and cold moments. What is powderpuff though? Powderpuff is a flag football game played between junior and senior girls in high school throughout America and Canada. The idea is that girls and guys switch places in a football game. So, the boys cheer as the girls play flag football. It takes place every year and is fun to watch and play.

The boys get ready as they cheer on the girls. The boys prepare cheers and a routine for the halftime show. Boys at Penns Valley had a lot of fun with this, this year. Coached by Ms. Rummel and Sophie McMurtrie, the juniors prepared a cheer routine to the song “Starships” by Nicki Minaj. It included a variety of different dances like the worm, a kick line, a human pyramid, and the griddy. Coached by Skylar Fleshman and Hannah Clark, the senior boys prepared a routine to a variety of different songs like “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)” by Beyonce, “Low” by Flo Rida, and others. They included different dances like flips, different acts, and a kick line. Overall it was a great time cheering and both teams did awesome.

The girls on the other hand put on a show as they played in the flag football game. Coached by Mr. Robson and Mr. Romig, the junior girls put up a fight and played excellent on offense as well as defense. They had a goal line stand where they stopped the senior girls from getting into the end zone for four downs on the goal line. Abby Stitzer scored two touchdowns in the first half. Coached by Mr. Irwin, the senior girls played a little better and got the win. They played tough the whole game and ended up scoring more than the juniors. They stopped the junior girls the whole second half and kept getting in the backfield forcing them backwards.

Overall, the game was a success despite the cold weather. It was fun and had its moments. The senior girls ended up taking the win home as the score was 27-13.
