The Penns Valley boys basketball season isn’t going how most people would hope the start of any season would go. Their first game against East Juniata was a close one coming up just short with a score of 26-31. Their second game was another close one losing by just 3 points to Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy. The next 2 games didn’t go as planned as they lost both to Bellefonte and then to Huntingdon.

Next up was the Ram Winter Jam, a winter basketball tournament held by Penns Valley. The teams included Penns Valley, Bellefonte, Juniata, and Central Mountain. Bellefonte moved on to the finals after beating Penns Valley for the second time. Penns Valley played Juniata in the consolation round and was able to pick up their first win with a score of 34-33. That gave the rams some confidence going into the next game but still ended up losing to Bald Eagle and then to Juniata Valley. We interviewed Penns Valley forward Colin Niewinski about how the season is going. He said, “It sucks. This is never how you want to start the season in any sport. We just have to keep learning and getting better every day.”

Although the rams haven’t had the hottest start, they can still be optimistic about how the rest of the season will go. They still have an opportunity to have a winning season with 13 games left this season and are hoping to make the best of it. The start of the season will not define the way the season will end.
