This is a picture of Ladon Hess and his opponent.

The start of the Winter season has been full of wins and pins. To start off the season, the Lady Rams won against East Juniata Tigers 52-20!!! Ann-Marie McMurtrie scored 19 points, many of them from a long distance. Julia Emel scored 10 points. And senior Avery Dinges scored 8 points. On December 14, 2022, Penns Valley Rams beat Huntington 34-24. The Rams picked up wins from Max King, Conner Myers, Jack Darlington, and Brayden Lisowski. And pins from Ty Watson, David Martin, and Kollin Brungart. Unfortunately, Landon Hess took a loss to Huntington’s District 6 champion, and Southwest Regional Runner-up State Qualifier, Gunner Singleton. Landon weighs in at 208 pounds, standing 5 feet 8 inches. However, Gunner weighs in at 282.2 pounds and stands 6 feet 8 inches. Singleton recorded two takedowns in the opening frame, and only one of them Landon was able to escape. The second period found Hess in the defensive position, and he scored a quick reversal to get within a point of the behemoth at 4-3. Singleton would return the favor just a few months later, adding on two back points to end the period at 8-4. That was the score when Singleton tripped up Landon with about a minute to go in the third for the pin. True, Mat Shaq finally got his full weight on Landon, and with 280 pounds of USDA Grade A wrestler on your chest, options are limited. But you got to admire his toughness to take this decorated champion to the third. He received a well-deserved ovation, and the Rams won what was expected to be (and was) a close match. The Penns Valley Wrestling Booster Club raised over $900 for their Christmas of Hope fundraiser, raffling off baskets of gift cards worth about $250 apiece. On December 31, 2022, Ann Marie McMurtrie won the Ice Goddess Award for the most outstanding player in the 2022 Penns Valley Ram Winter Jam. The Lady Rams won the tournament, stopping Central Mountain 46-44. And this is not all of it and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season brings. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/2022-ranking-top-20-nba-players-right-now
