Penns Valley Girls Varsity Volleyball played their first home game of the 2019 season this past Thursday, September 5th. The girls played 3 sets against Huntington. The Lady Rams opened with 25-18 in the first set, 25-22 during the second and 25-21 in the third. Skylar Zettle took the winning kill, leading the ladies to victory. This is a great way for the ladies to start the 2019 season.

Senior, Grace Bressler is “looking forward to winning more games and being with [her] team.” When asked how they perform as a team she claimed, “We have to work together to earn points, it requires a lot of teamwork from everyone.” Bressler also anticipates the girls to win more than half of their played games for the season. Bressler had 3 kills during the Huntington match, helping her team close the win.

The Lady Rams next home game is September 17th, against Tyrone. The game is red, white and blue themed. The girls appreciate the support from their community, come out and support the girls! The season is just getting started, with only a few home games, the girls welcome as many supporters as possible to come out and enjoy the match.

The girls 2018 season finished with a 16-2 record, coached by Jayme Ishler. The Lady Rams also welcomed their new JV Coach, Kendyl Paolini this season to the volleyball family.

In other Penns Valley athletic news, the boys’ Varsity football team brought home a 42-7 win against Bald Eagle Friday Night. The boys brought the bell back to its rightful place, all in the comfort of their own field surrounded by a stadium of fans. The boys’ play Central this Friday, September 13th.  The girls’ Varsity soccer team beat Bellefonte 6-1 Thursday night and Junior Varsity won 6-0. The Lady Rams lost Tuesday away at Central 3-2 in double overtime. The ladies play away at Tyrone Monday, September 9th and home against Huntington Wednesday, September 11th. The boys’ Varsity soccer team beat Central 6-3 last Tuesday, and their next game is against Huntington Thursday, September 6th.
