Spring will officially begin on Friday, March 20th. With that said, it’s important to note a few key dates, events, and concepts for the new season. Just this past week, beginning on March 1st, the Meteorological Spring began. This initiated a conceptual season based on average annual temperatures. This coming Sunday, March 8th, the clock will spring forward one hour to give more daylight to the people.
So what does this mean for the people?
1. This gives farmers more time to grow. They have an extra hour of daylight in the day to sow seeds and complete farm work.
2. Students have more time to go outside and enjoy the outdoors. This may stimulate more physical activity and outdoor exercise.
3. The human brain will rewire itself to fix itself from the time change. This change will effectively remove 1 hour of sleep from people’s schedules, shifting the time from 2 am to 3 am.
Why is it important to take into account daylight savings?
Originally, daylight saving time was set in place back in World War 1 and World War 2. It has stayed in place to benefit America as a whole. Although there has been talk about diminishing the concept, it is still being adhered to today.
