On Wednesday, May 20th, Penns Valley held a give-back day for 11th- and 12th-graders to give back to their community. This day gave students a meaningful opportunity to step outside the classroom and actively support their community. There were many service activies students to chose that were designed to improve different parts of the local area. Services the students could do included mulching at the Old Gregg School, trash pickup along Sinking Creek, picking up sticks in the courtyards, painting a mural at the Centre Hall Fire Hall, planting trees, and cleaning gravestones. This was a way students could get out of class, but also help out the community and be an active member.
Although these service activites allowed students give back to their community and take a break from school. They were planned by Penns Valley high school to do more than just that these activies were also suppose to teach students good teamwork skills annd the value of service in a community. Throught the day students made impacts on the community weather big or small and got to feel more connected with their community. Events like these can help build a relationship between the school and the community. Thank you to everyone who made this day possible!
