Penns Valley has so many clubs to be involved in. But what do they really do? Here is an inside look at a few of Penns Valley’s clubs.
Yearbook Club
Yearbook Club is continuing to work on assembling the school’s yearbook. With the winter sports season just ending, they have collected many pictures from basketball, wrestling, bocce, and swimming, and are now getting ready to begin photographing the spring sports.
If you have any winter sports pictures that you would like to potentially be included in the yearbook, please feel free to email them to the Yearbook Club at [email protected]. As the spring season begins, you may also send new pictures taken.
Ski Club
It is now the beginning of March, and the ski season has officially ended. Members of the Ski Club, through an intramural program, were able to visit Tussey Mountain weekly on Thursdays for five weeks. Students were able to take lessons through the program or ski or snowboard on their own. Different types of lessons were available to skiers and snowboarders based on their skill level.

Penns Valley’s ski club, working with Tussey’s Intramural Program, is a great opportunity to try skiing or snowboarding for the first time or receive a discount on passes. Greater discounts can be gotten by purchasing an intramural package early, and rates start as low as $140 for 5 weeks. The intramural program provides better deals than a one-time $44 lift ticket…which could add up quickly when skiing/snowboarding for more than one night!
Key Club
For Valentine’s Day, Key Club had a carnation sale. They were successful in selling many flowers to both teachers and students. For another recent service project, Key Club sent volunteers to Night to Shine. Night to Shine is a worldwide prom held for people ages 14 and up with special needs. It takes place annually on the Friday before Valentine’s Day. Guests are honored with rides in a limousine, a red carpet entrance, and a crowning ceremony. It provides those with disabilities a fun night of joy, acceptance, and celebration. Key Club volunteers got to help Night to Shine with things like registration, food service, doing hair and makeup, being a buddy to guests, and more.
Currently, the Key Club is working on selecting its next service project. The reappearance of the bake sale cart may be coming soon…keep an eye out!
Yearbook Club, Ski Club, and Key Club are just a few of Penns Valley’s many amazing opportunities to try something out and meet new people. If you are not a part of a club, consider joining one next year!
