Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers look to make a playoff run. Coming into the season, they picked up Aaron Rodgers, the veteran quarterback from California, and DK Metcalf, the athletic playmaker from Mississippi. Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback of all time; he has one Super Bowl under his belt and four NFL MVPs. Metcalf is a massive freak-of-nature receiver who runs a 4.3 40-yard dash. Defensively, T.J. Watt is a force to be reckoned with off the edge. He has a Defensive Player of the Year award and multiple First Team All-Pro selections. Secondly, Joey Porter Jr. is a young, talented cornerback who has been playing out of his mind and has emerged as one of the most elite corners in the league.
With these key players led by Rodgers and his playoff experience, this will give the Steelers a chance of making a deep run. The defense has been playing well as of late in the season; if the offense produces at a high level, they will be very hard to stop. The Steelers just beat the Baltimore Ravens, led by Lamar Jackson, to secure the four seed in the playoffs. Now they will play the 12–5 Houston Texans at home on a cold Monday night at 8.
Houston is known to have the best defense in the NFL, with powerful edge rushers and a strong secondary holding teams to minimal yards and low points per game. The Steelers’ defense will need to continue playing well and try to get healthy, and their offense will need to score points whenever they can on the Texans’ feisty defense. If the Steelers manage to win, they will face the Broncos in Denver. The Broncos are also a very strong defensive team and are argued to be better than the Texans’ defense. With similar defensive traits to the Texans, the Steelers will have to play at near the same level or better.
In the AFC Championship, it is likely that they would see a familiar foe in the Patriots, Chargers, or Bills. The Steelers topped the Patriots in an early-season matchup where they wreaked havoc on the Pats, as they forced five turnovers. But the Chargers and Bills both bested the Steelers earlier in the season. Either way, they will need to be on their best game to come out of there with a dub. The Steelers have yet to win a playoff game for eight years, and this is their chance to go all the way.
