On Monday, January 19, the college national football championship took place. The contest pitted the Indiana Hoosiers against the Miami Hurricanes. Going into this game, the Hoosiers were 16-0, while the Hurricanes were 13-3. In short Indianna had control the whole game, they built a lead in the first half and stopped a Miami rally in the second.
The final score was 27 to 21 in Indiana’s favor. This was there first ever national championship. Indiana posted 317 yards, 186 passing yards, 131 running yards, 72 plays, and 4.4 yards per play on average. The Hurricanes posted 342 total yards, 232 passing yards, 110 rushing yards, 53 plays, and an average of 6.5 yards per play.
Fernando Mendoza led the Hoosiers to a victory with 186 passing yards and one rushing td to seal the game. Carson Beck, the Hurricanes qb went for 232 passing yards and 1 passing td. Indiana dominated the time of possession; they relied on consistent drives and smart decisions. Along with that, they got key stops and walled up on the Hurricanes’ offense. On the other hand, Miami relied on explosive plays. They otplayed Indianna in the fourth quarter and almost flipped the script. All in all Indianna played with pace and fundamentals; they deserved the win. It was a good game, and Miami put up a great fight.
