Bocce ball is a rising sport in the community and has gained attention through the years. Penns Valley’s bocce ball team had finished its regular-season run and went to districts to play for a chance to advance to states. It was a tournament-style event, with the team winning first advancing to the state tournament. The tournament consisted of two State College teams, two Phillipsburg teams, two Bald Eagle teams, Bellefonte, and Our Penns Valley Rams.
Our first match was against the Bald Eagle powerhouse. It was a close match, but the Bald Eagle squad pulled through in the last frame and got their victory. With the loss in the first round, the highest place the team could get was 5th, so that was the goal they strived for. Their next match was played against a Phillipsburg Team for the chance to play in the 5th-place match. The match was a stunning victory with a shutout over the Phillipsburg team. Then came the final match for fifth place against the other Bald Eagle team. This match would decide the placement of the team for the year. After a close win ….. the Penns Valley Rams take the victory, securing their spot in 5th place in the tournament.
